The expulsion of odiferous gas is usually a problem of maldigestion of food. Ammonia and hydrogen sulfide gasses are produced when undigested food is fermented in the colon. Another cause of flatulence may be the presence of bad bacteria in the colon. Giving your dog digestive enzymes and probiotics (good bacteria) in the diet often eliminates flatulence.
Cimetidine decreases stomach acid production in dogs and cats. It helps treat existing ulcers as well as prevent the formation of new ulcers. Cimetidine is also used to treat inflammation of the stomach (gastritis), inflammation of the esophagus, and gastric or esophageal reflux.
Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian.
