Product Summary:

Bio-Spot Active Care™ Breakaway® Flea & Tick Collar for Cats & Kittens

The Bio-Spot Active Care™ cat collar offers proactive pet care. It kills fleas and flea eggs for up to seven months at a time, and only takes a quick and easy application for continuous protection.

Features:

  • Kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and ticks
  • Water resistant
  • Up to 7 months of protection with one collar
Item Specifications:

Active Ingredients:
(S)-Methoprene (CAS # 65733-16-6) 1.02%
Tetrachlovinphos 14.55%
Other Ingredients: 84.43%
Total: 100%

How to Use:
Buckle collar around cat's neck. Thread flat end of collar through buckle hole and tighten as necessary so that at least two ridges are covered by the buckle. Since the plastic buckle is molded into the collar, the possibility of neck irritation and buckle failure is reduced. Fit collar snug enough to prevent placement of the cat's leg or lower jaw through the collar, yet loose enough to be rotated about the neck. To remove, squeeze the buckle between thumb and finger and pull sharply. Collar does not need replacement if cat becomes wet.

We put a long term collar (Advantix) on our cat (1 of 3 cats) and within a week we had to remove it due to hair loss and infection around the collar. The other cats have not had a problem with the collar after 3 months. Is there history with this Bio collar as to allergic reactions?

BEST ANSWER: We have not heard of any reactions. The sheet inside the packaging should give this warning. When collar is first worn, observe neck area every few days for irritation. Remove collar at the first sign of irritation or adverse reaction. Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, remove collar and bathe your cat with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. We do suggest taking your cat to the vet if that reaction is still occurring after removal.
