Product Summary:

Herm Sprenger Prong Dog Collar

The Herm Sprenger prong collar is one of the most recognizable and popular names in obedience training tools. A safe and effective alternative to choker collars, the prong collar puts even pressure around the neck, about every half inch, pinching the skin in a band. This collar does not apply direct pressure to the trachea so you can train your dog with little or no tugging, jerking, or pulling. Made of high-quality German steel and adjustable size, just add or remove the chrome plated links individually.

Features:

  • Interlocking links, each link equipped with two blunt prongs
  • Slightly beveled, polished prong tips
  • Easy to increase or decrease size
  • Made in Germany
Sizes:
14"L x ¾"W (2.25mm)
18"L x 1"W (3mm)
20"L x 1"W (3.25mm)
22"L x 1¼"W (3.8mm)

Sizing Instructions:
Collar should fit snugly just below the dog’s ears. Measure the circumference of dog's neck and add two inches.

Life Saving
Switching to a prong collar for our rambunctious hound puppy was a real life saver, and this brand is by far my favorite that I've come across. We tried most all of the collar alternatives for our pup, including the gentle lead (which worked until she realized she could get out of it), but the prong collar has finally stopped the incessant and dangerous pulling and dragging. I finally feel safe taking my dog for a walk by myself, because I now have enough control. This specific brand is easy to use. Other brands have been extremely difficult to hook and unhook, but this collar unhooks easily. My biggest concern in switching to a prong collar was the way they are perceived by others, but I've luckily not had any issues with that. When you actually understand how the collar works, it really seems like one of the most humane alternatives for a dog that pulls. We have a much better behaved dog now.

Great Tool!
Prong Collars are a great way to train your dog efficiently and humanely! The herm-sprenger collar is set up in a way that makes them 10 times more effective and the metal holds up longer. My other prongs I had purchased from the pet stores bend and tarnish within months. The first Herm-Sprenger collar I purchased 2 years ago still looks and works like new!!

Disappointed
I purchased this collar for my Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy about 6 months ago. At first I was very pleased but noticed recently that the collar has rust at several locations. I used these collars in the past with my previous dog and never had this problem. This should not happen especially for the purchase price. I would not recommend at all.

The best training collar you will find
I have have trained 3 Doberman's using the Sprenger collar, it is bar none the best on the market and makes training corrections efficient and easy without injuring the dog due to the way the collar displaces your energy. I have recommended the Sprenger to many a thankful person because it makes training and obedience less stressful for both the owner and dog.

The prong collar
I have used this type of collar for many years on rottweilers, american bulldog, min schnauzer and a tiny sheltie. I found using the small prong to be the best collar even for the larger dogs. They respond well and don't mind having it put on them. Even though my rotties have been obedience trained, very well, I always felt more comfortable having this collar on when going out in public where there might be other large dogs. "an ounce of prevention" goes a long way. I have never NEEDED the prong, but I felt I had utmost control if a situation arose.

works
This colar works. The dog auto eases up to stop any unconfortable feeling. I have only on very vew occasions had to actully inforce a pull or whet i call and up and snatch woth this colar and it was with a Chinese Sharpie..know to be agressive to other dogs but it stopped is attemp at atacking the other dog. I am very very please with this collar, it will not slip off the head of a dog that has a neck almost the size of the head. that was the major erra with Sharpies..slip to no difference in size of head and neck.m These colars last forever and you can always buy extra links to enlarge it.

I love it!
I love this product....i have a Pit (55lbs) who pulls like crazy, we tried the head collar and it just annoyed her and didn't really work. I(a crazy dog lover) was totally against chokers, but my nieghbor has two bull breads and and uses this so we tried it and i feel like i am walking a feather!! looks are a little standoff-ish but try it!Oh an dit doesnt hurt or choke her!

Like Power Steering for Your Dog!
I love Herm Sprenger prong collars (they are the best), but one absolutely must be shown how to use it properly by a training professional. That being said, it's easy to use, humane when used correctly, and makes walking one's dog significantly more fun.
