Neo-Poly-Bac Ophthalmic Ointment
Neo-poly-bac is a sterile ophthalmic ointment that contains the antibiotics: Neomycin, Polymyxin B, and Bacitracin Zinc. This product does not contain any steroidal ingredients. Each gram of ointment contains: 3.5mg Neomycin base, 10,000 Polymyxin B units, and 400 Bacitracin units.

Caution(s):
This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals. Inform your veterinarian prior to use of this medication if your pet is using other eye drops or eye medications. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
Side effects:
Possible side effects may include: tearing, redness, blurring of vision, and itching which may result in your pet rubbing their eyes. Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Neo-Poly-Bac Ophthalmic Ointment should be applied as directed by your veterinarian. Administer prescribed dose by pulling down on the bottom lid of your pet’s eye and placing a ribbon of ointment into the eye. Exercise proper caution not to touch the tube opening to any surface including eyes or hands as that may contaminate the sterile surface. Wash hands before and after application.
