The palatable once-a-month prescription tablet that prevents heartworm disease and flea populations in dogs and puppies, SENTINEL® (milbemycin oxime/lufenuron) Flavor Tabs® also control flea populations and adult hookworms, and remove and control adult roundworm and whipworm infection in dogs and puppies. These tablets are available in four tablet sizes in color-coded packages for oral administration to dogs and puppies according to their weight. Each tablet is formulated to provide a minimum of 0.23mg/lb. (0.5mg/kg) of milbemycin oxime and 4.55mg/lb. (10mg/kg) body weight of lufenuron.

Item Specifications:

Indications:
Sentinel Flavor Tabs are indicated for use in dogs and puppies, four weeks of age and older, and two pounds body weight or greater. Sentinel Flavor Tabs are also indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, for the prevention and control of flea populations, the control of adult Ancylostoma caninum (hookworm), and the removal and control of adult Toxocara canis and Toxocara leonina (roundworm) and Trichuris vulpis (whipworm) infections. Lufenuron controls flea populations by preventing the development of flea eggs and does not kill adult fleas. Concurrent use of adulticide product may be necessary for adequate control of adult fleas.

Dosage:
Sentinel Flavor Tabs are given orally, once a month, at the recommended minimum dosage of 0.23mg/lb. (0.5mg/kg) milbemycin oxime and 4.55mg/lb. (10mg/kg) lufenuron. Dogs over 100 lb. are provided the appropriate combination of tablets.

Precautions:
Do not use in puppies less than four weeks of age and less than two pounds of body weight. Prior to administration of Sentinel Flavor Tabs, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. Infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae prior to initiating treatment with Sentinel Flavor Tabs. Mild, transient hypersensitivity reactions manifested as labored respiration, vomiting, salivation and lethargy have been noted in some treated dogs carrying a high number of circulating microfilariae. These reactions are presumably caused by release of protein from dead or dying microfilariae.
Sentinel Flavor Tabs immediately break the flea life cycle by inhibiting egg development. However, pre-existing flea populations may continue to develop and emerge after treatment with Sentinel Flavor Tabs has begun. Based on results of clinical studies, this emergence generally occurs during the first 30-60 days. Therefore, noticeable control may not be observed until several weeks after dosing when a pre-existing infestation is present. Cooler geographic areas may have longer lag periods due to a prolonged flea life cycle. The concurrent use of an approved adulticide, like CAPSTAR may be employed depending on the severity of the infestation.
If a Sentinel Flavor Tabs-treated dog comes in contact with a flea-infested environment, adult fleas may infest the treated animal. These adult fleas are unable to produce viable offspring. The temporary use of an adulticide product may be necessary to kill these adult fleas.

Adverse Reactions:
The following adverse reactions have been reported in dogs after giving milbemycin oxime or lufenuron: vomiting, depression/lethargy, pruitus, urticaria, diarrhea, anorexia, skin congestion, ataxia, convulsions, hypersalivation and weakness.

Storage Conditions:
Store in a dry place at controlled room temperature, between 59º and 77ºF (15-25ºC). Caution:
Federal (USA) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Warnings:
Not for human use. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children.

Great flea prevention, especially when you have kids, because you are not pouring chemicals all over the dog's skin.
Melissa L on Sep 1, 2018
My internal medicine vet recommended this one for my dog who shows in the Midwest. It covers worms in that area such as hookworm. Another friend of mine used Heartguard, and her dog came home loaded with roundworms. This one works and no worms.
SANDRA B on Aug 3, 2018
My dog likes the taste of these and is not allergic to them when she is allergic to just about everything! They have always protected her, so I trust them.

Because I show dogs in the Midwest, and hookworm is there, I use this one. My dogs always come back worm free. I know others use Heartguard, but only to have their dogs come back with round worms. My vet suggested this one for the area my dog resides in.

I have a small dog, a Chihuahua. This Heart worm preventative does not upset his stomach as it is made for dogs that weigh below 10 pounds. It is often hard to find pills formulated for small dogs.

combines Heartworm medicine and a benign internal flea medicine that prevents the flea exoskeleton from forming. Safe enough to feed to pregnant animals. Does not cause seizures, and paralysis the way the topical ones do.

My vet recommended this medication for my dog. She loves it, and thinks that it's a treat.
Elizabeth H on Dec 25, 2017
Recommended by my vet, been using it for years, and it has been effective. However, buyers should be aware it does not control ticks, so I supplement with a spot on treatment on the advice of my vet, as I live in the country (wooded area) where ticks can be an issue.
Lynn H on Dec 21, 2017
My vet recommended it.
Miriam A on Dec 12, 2017

My dog has been on this medication for quite awhile and I usually just pay full price at the Vet. When I saw how much less it was to purchase it here, I thought I would
try it and save some money.

My internist vet recommended this brand. I send my dogs to the Midwest to be shown. Everybody else's get round worms and hook worms using the other brands of heartworm meds. Mine never come back home with any of these parasites. This stuff covers the other parasites too.

Have been using it for years with multiple dogs. Great results and see no need to change.
